Frequently Answered Questions
I would like to book a show with you; how do I do it?
Just call me at (916) 864-0000 and I will be happy to discuss
availability and costs.
Is your name Zircon Zelda? No, it's really Helen Hart.
Why do people call you Zircon Zelda? I was
appearing in the Broadway Show "Hello, Dolly!" with Worley and Jesse
White (remember the lonely Maytag Man?). During that 3-week run I was buying my
own theater in California and I told Jesse that I was going to call myself
"Zircon Lil", because every man I ever met wouldn't buy me diamonds -
they bought me zircons. The following day, in rehearsal on stage, he said
"I have a better idea, Helen. Why don't you call yourself 'Zircon Zelda' ... "
I said, "Oh, yeah - that's funny!" It stuck.
Are you from Las Vegas, or are you from L. A.?
This is the number one question I'm asked when we come off the floor. I am
working from California right now. The reason people
ask this is due to the quality of our dancers and singers and our lavish costumes
(they also know about our performances in New York and Las Vegas.)
I saw your "Broadway" show; do you have any other
theme shows? Yes, we have an entire Luau show, a complete Western show,
and a fun-filled Christmas show (with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and a surprise
visit by Santa Claus with his bag of goodies for the audience). We also do a
personalized birthday show honoring the celebrant as a king or queen for an hour
and including their family with them in some special numbers. I can assemble a
show for almost any theme you desire; I have over 80 numbers to choose from in our
repertoire.
Where do you get those lovely costumes?
Unlike a lot of dance troupes we do not get our costumes from the customary commercial
catalogs. Dorothy, my custom seamstress, and I get our heads together, listen to
the music I'm choreographing, combine our thoughts and ideas, and she turns them
into the dazzling costumes you see.
Are you all professional entertainers?
This is probably the second-most frequently asked question after a show. My comment
to my company is "A job well done!"
Your singers are great, do you have any CDs of them for sale?
We don't have any CDs for sale. However, Colette came in from San Francisco after
having performed for years with the big bands and in lounge shows there. If you
ask her for some of her anecdotes while performing, have an afternoon free for the
stories. My other singer, Carole‚ was a back-up singer for Wayne Newton in Las Vegas;
anyone who's seen our show will know why we all hate it when this beautiful girl
slinks onto the stage in her size 3 gown.
